Cargo, Both Ways anachronistically combines a 19th-century sloop with the aesthetics of intermodal shipping containers, connecting the early industrialization of the Hudson Valley to contemporary globalization. Containing real Hudson Valley bricks that were reclaimed from demolished New York City buildings, the work is also a journey home for materials dug from the earth one hundred years ago.
